A Call Back to Simplicity

“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” - 2 Corinthians 11:3

Hi guys,

I want to talk about something the Lord showed me. There are moments in our walk with God when He speaks in ways that bypass our logic and reach straight into the core of our spirit. Recently, the Lord gave me a vision — one that carried the weight of invitation, correction, and intimacy all at once. One that has multiple meanings.

I saw the words “Colossians 6” — a chapter that doesn’t exist — yet the Holy Spirit used it as imagery in a vision. Immediately after, I saw Scripture flash before me with a simple, piercing message:

“Talk to Me.”

Then came a vision of a device with a dropping number, starting at 331. It felt like a countdown, a reminder, a warning, and an invitation all at once: Come back to Me before you drift too far.

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
Colossians 2:6 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. Hebrews 11:4 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word. Psalm 119:114 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4

I spent time in prayer, asking the Lord for the meaning. And while this has a few. One in particular He wants me to share in this blog is a call to return to simplicity—to walk in Jesus Christ the same way you first received Him: with sincerity, humility, and dependence.

But the imagery didn’t stop there. God put me to work.

The Lord led me to look up the numbers. The Strong’s Hebrew 6 — abad (to wander away, perish, lose oneself) and Strong’s Greek 6 — Habel (Abel, the model of sincere faith).

And suddenly, His message became clear.

Today, the Lord wants you to stop looking for “Something extra,” for “Something more,” than Him. He desires you to anchor yourself in the simplicity of His Gospel. To anchor yourself against the drift of your desires, that are leading you further and further away from His simple and uncomplicated embrace. The Lord desires you to come back to the stability of His Word.

Prioritize Real Devotion Over Religious Outwards

The Colossians drifted because they believed Jesus wasn’t enough. Mixing their faith with the secular beliefs of their times. They wandered toward human philosophies, hidden knowledge, and rigid rituals — the very essence of abad, wandering away until spiritually lost. Spiritually drifted from the shore of stability.

God is saying through my vision, echoing the same truth for you:

“You don’t need secret formulas, trends, or external validation. You already have access to Me. Talk to Me.”

Sometimes we complicate what God made simple. We chase spiritual “mysteries” and extra revelations instead of the presence that is already ours. Resting in the Word of God. Being full in it.

Drifting doesn’t happen loudly. It happens quietly — when prayer becomes occasional, when Scripture becomes optional, when priorities shift from simple to complex, when anxiety becomes louder than faith, and when pride chases heights that lead to a fall.

Abad describes this subtle wandering until one finds themselves spiritually lost.

Like the rapidly dropping number in my vision — 331, 330, 329 — God saying:

“Pay attention to where your feet are moving. Return to the baseline of your faith.”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.
Philippians 4:1

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
John 15:4

The Lord has a way of helping us halt. Getting our feet to be still, so that He can guide our understanding to meet His gaze. His wisdom. His heart. Which is returning to the simplicity of going back to the basics of faith.

The Word of God reminds us that spiritual growth is rooted, built, and established only in Christ alone. And the imagery from Strong’s Greek 6 — Habel — points us to Abel, whose offering pleased God because it came from sincere faith, not performance.

God is not impressed by ravenous hunger for mysteries, rituals, perfectionism, or spiritual theatrics.

He wants a heart that trusts Him. A life that speaks faith. A walk that reflects intimacy.

“Like Abel, let your devotion be genuine. Walk with Me in truth, not shadows.”

Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering.
Genesis 4:4
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.
2 Chronicles 16:9

Being “Shut In” So You Can Be Set Free

Going back to my vision of “Colossians 6,” to share another layer the Holy Spirit revealed, is the idea of being shut in with God.

In Scripture, the Hebrew concept atam (to shut, close) is used to describe intentional boundaries that protect what is sacred.

Sometimes God shuts us in:

  • to silence distractions

  • to purify our motives

  • to protect our intimacy

  • to separate us from what is spiritually toxic

And sometimes He shuts us in because He is preparing to set us free.

The Greek concept anathema (accursed, set apart) reminds us that God calls us to total separation from anything that distorts truth or corrupts devotion.

You cannot carry souvenirs from your old life into your new one. You cannot bring present idols into intimacy. You cannot bring noise of distractions into a place meant for conversation.

“Talk to Me.” That was the Father’s heart of my vision. “Be shut in with Me.”

Friends, you began your journey by trusting Jesus. Don’t let the complexities of life pull you away now.

Hold fast to Christ.

Walk in Him.

Stay anchored.

Stay sincere.

Stay shut in with Him until freedom comes.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
1 Corinthians 9:24

I would love to hear from you. How has God been drawing you back to simplicity in this season? Where do you feel Him saying, “Talk to Me”? In what areas is He inviting you to stop drifting and anchor yourself again?

Share your reflections in the comments — your story may be the very reminder someone else needs today.

And if this message resonated with your spirit, share it with someone who needs to remember that being “shut in” with God is often the doorway to being set free.

Let’s encourage one another to stay rooted, sincere, and anchored in Christ.
