How to Walk in Joy: Finding Heaven's Songs in Life's Storms

“For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills Shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. -Isaiah 55:12

How to Walk in Joy

Something transactional happens when you find the perfect song, playlist, or album for your mood. You know that moment—when the melody and lyrics captures exactly what your heart is feeling, when the words speak directly to your soul. For me, singing has always been my go-to when emotions run high, tangled, and stagnant but what I've discovered goes so much deeper than just musical therapy.

The Lord taught me something profound: to sing through it all. Not because I have the most polished voice or perfect pitch, but because there's an anointing that comes when we worship from the depths of our being. A soul’s cry. You see, an anointed worshipper isn't necessarily the most technically skilled—they're someone who abides in the depths of the Father's heart. When He sings over you, you learn to sing that same song, partnering with the victory or prophecy that's already in motion. Partnering with His words in rejoicing.

This revelation came to me as I began to notice a pattern in my life. Incredibly talented singers—people who truly SANG—kept gravitating toward me. At first, I couldn't understand why. But then the Lord showed me something beautiful: we're in the dawn of new worship. We're stepping into the joy of the Lord in ways we've never experienced before.

How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
1 Corinthians 14:26

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
John 4:23

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Psalm 30:11-12

When Life Gets Hard, Sing Anyway

God revealed this truth to me during some of my most difficult seasons. When persecution came knocking, when people were being nasty and mean, His instruction was simple yet revolutionary: "Just break out in song," “Enter into My Prescence crying and leave rejoicing.”

It's almost comical when I think about it. Growing up, I was absolutely enchanted by musicals—the way characters could burst into song to express their deepest emotions, how music could transform any moment into something deep and prophetic to the movie’s plot. Little did I know that I was destined to live out my own musical, except these songs don't come from Broadway—they come straight from heaven.

I've been blessed with the gift to hear angels worship and dance around the throne. I've experienced the ability to access heaven through worship, and I've even shared a song called "Yahweh" on my podcast and Youtube channel to help others tune out the noise of their day and tune into the songs of heaven. But here's what I want you to understand: this isn't some mystical experience reserved for a select few. This is accessible to you too.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Philippians 4:4

You're Already Sealed With His Presence

While you may or may not have experienced spiritually accessing heaven in worship the way I have, here's the beautiful truth: you are sealed with the Holy Spirit, His presence. You've probably already experienced this in ways you might not have recognized. Think about those moments when the Lord has awakened you with a song playing in your heart, or when He's inspired a melody or lyrics that seemed to come from nowhere. That's Him, partnering with you in worship.

The point I'm trying to share isn't to overwhelm you with supernatural experiences, but to show you something tangible and relatable. You already do this with music in your daily life. When you need comfort, you reach for that one song. When you need energy, you have your go-to playlist. When you need to process emotions, music becomes your companion. Where now the Father picks the song, that helps you open up your heart to worship.

Transforming Sorrow Into Strength

What if I told you that this same principle—this instinctive reach for music—could be the key to transforming your sorrows into joy daily? The Bible tells us that "the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10), and I've discovered that joy often comes wrapped in a song.

When you're navigating difficult people and challenging places, when life feels overwhelming and you're wondering how you'll endure, remember this: a simple song, a new song, a song that's in sync with heaven's rhythm, can strengthen you to run the race set before you.

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2

Living Your Own Heavenly Musical

Every day, we have the choice to partner with the Lord’s soundtrack or get lost in the world's noise. When criticism comes, when circumstances feel impossible, when people disappoint us—these are the moments when we need heaven's songs the most. Not just to abide in worship, but to become the lyrics of God’s song over us. Where you shift from listening to participating, to singing.

I'm not suggesting you need to be a professional singer or that you need to have supernatural experiences to walk in this truth. What I am saying is that the same God who sings over you wants to teach you His songs. He wants to fill your heart with melodies that will sustain you, strengthen you, and transform the atmosphere around you.

So the next time you're feeling overwhelmed, remember: you have access to heaven's playlist. Whether it's humming a worship song while you work, singing in your car on the way home, or simply letting a melody rise from your heart in prayer, you're participating in something divine. You're choosing joy as your strength, and you're letting heaven's songs write the soundtrack of your life.

Your journey is your own unique musical, and the Director of this beautiful production is writing songs of victory, hope, and joy specifically for your story. All you have to do is listen, and when you hear it, don't be afraid to sing along.

A Song for Your Soul

So I leave you with this question: What song is the Lord singing over your life right now? In this very moment, in this season you're walking through, what melody is waiting to rise from your heart? Maybe it's a song of breakthrough for that situation you've been praying about. Maybe it's a song of healing for wounds that have been aching. Or perhaps it's simply a song of gratitude for His faithfulness through it all.

Take a moment today—right now, even—to listen. Not just with your ears, but with your spirit. Let the joy of the Lord become your strength, one song at a time. And remember, you don't have to sing it perfectly.

You just have to sing it with all your heart.
